Water Clarification
How do water clarifiers work?
Much of the dirt and other contaminants within the pool water are too small to be filtered out by the filter medium. When the clarifier is added to the pool, these small particles are combined together, this creates particles large enough either to be caught by the filter medium or to settle to the bottom of the pool and be vacuumed out.
Why is my pool water cloudy?
There are many different reasons why your pool water may not be clear. You will need to check a number of things in order to eliminate them. Is the circulation of your pool working correctly, do you have any mechanical problems with the filtration system. These systems need to be functioning correctly and for a sufficient period of time to circulate the pool water, to maintain clear water.
You may need to use a clarifier (see question above) to remove particles in the water which are too small to be filtered out without chemical assistance.
Ensure that your pool water is adequately chemicalised and the pH is at the recommended level. Adjust Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness.
You will need to be sure you do not have a problem with algae, have you been using an algaecide regularly.
Have you recently had a heavy bathing load, which can lead to an increase in organic waste in the water (sweat, urine etc). You may need to shock the pool.
Have you added incompatible chemicals to the pool water.
Once you have gone through these possibilities, if you still have cloudy water bring a sample of your pool water into our showroom for a free water test.
